I'm a proud Nevadan, born and raised in Las Vegas/Henderson. My love of publishing started in high school, when I was on both the yearbook and newspaper staff. I also was an intern at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, where I had two articles published. I'm still proud of one of the articles. The other is just flat-out boring—which is saying a lot for me.*
(*I edit Wikipedia for fun. So, you know.)
After graduating high school, I went to the University of Missouri, originally to study at their world–renowned journalism school. I switched to English and later added Linguistics as dual BA degrees.
Why? That boring article.
Or I was disaffected. In any case, eventually I was recruited to work for a small, experimental non-generative artificial intelligence company to help get computers to understand humor. They don't. I mean, now they do. But, graphics cards weren't very good then and IBM just came out with Watson. It as the dark ages!
You want to know how I wrote this and not AI? If AI had written this, it would be funny. But, it's not. So it goes.
Changes in the market and company leadership resulted in a lot of upheaval. I found myself taking on and succeeding in more roles than the copy writing position I had originally been signed up for. The idea was brought up: we already create curricula. What if we had textbooks to go with the software teaching it? Now that is upselling.
The Fourth City Press was born. Grateful beyond words, I lead it from 2013 til its was acquired in 2018. I decided to take a haitus from publishing, but, to be honest, I couldn't stay gone.
I became a teacher, but I immediately took over the yearbook program at the first school I taught at. Then, again at my next school. I have been freelancing sine college, except for a few years at the press because I was too busy.
It turns out, publishing is my home. Instead of sheep, I count references. I see in CMYK and measure in pica. There's nothing more exciting than a prepress check that's all green lights. No links are broken? Praise be.
I am an academic editor and educator with a robust background in academic publishing, secondary education, and linguistic research. With a proven expertise in developmental and copy editing, project management, and academic content creation, I relish challenging opportunities. Adept at managing complex editorial projects, I like to foster collaboration among cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality publications.
I have a passion for helping the world showcase its knowledge through well-edited, expertly-researched academic and reference works.
The old adage dictates that "the pen is mightier than the sword." Indeed. It's even mightier when it has citations.

Figure 1. A person who likes to edit Wikipedia for fun. With little social life because "Amy this is a barbecue—nobody wants to talk about the history of source citation. It's not fun," apparently, she has plenty of time to help you with whatever project you need!
